Transfer Admissions Counselor

 

Job Summary: This position is responsible for the recruitment of students into the bachelor’s degree programs offered through the Accelerated Bridge to Education (ABE) program at Lincoln College.  Reporting to the Director of Admissions, this position will focus on recruitment activities for transfer students interested in Lincoln College’s accelerated hybrid bachelor’s degree programs offered at its locations in Normal, Oglesby, Peoria and Lincoln, IL.  This position is primarily based at the campus in Normal, IL.

General Description: Meet with prospective transfer students, family members, local business owners, employers, and representatives of community colleges, universities, and other organizations to provide information about Lincoln College programs.  Conduct admission interviews and build appropriate relationships with respective audiences. Compile and analyze admission data. Plan and participate in on-campus and off-campus recruitment events sponsored by Lincoln College and other related organizations.  Establish and manage a pool of prospective students from inquiry through enrollment stages for each start date.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Represent Lincoln College at community college visits, college and/or career fairs, and other transition services programs and events.
  • Conduct information sessions both on and off campus; participate in Open Houses, conduct campus tours and interviews with prospective students as necessary.
  • Meet recruitment goals by actively managing the assigned inquiry and applicant pools.
  • In collaboration with the Admissions Coordinator, implement, monitor, and manage communications with prospective students, applicants, accepted students, and deposited students.
  • Use the College’s computer information system to monitor and track inquiries and applicants. 
  • Ensure admission procedures and stages are complete so students are ready to move into the advising and enrollment phase.
  • Work closely with Lincoln College academic advisors to communicate to prospective students the results of unofficial transcript evaluations and estimated time to degree completion.
  • Work effectively with Lincoln College faculty, financial aid and business office staff, and the College registrar’s office to ensure a smooth transition from applicant to enrolled student.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends and willingness to travel to selected locations.
  • Respect for the confidential nature of information provided by students and family members.
  • Assist in the design of Lincoln College admissions marketing publications to promote innovative methods of reaching targeted audiences.
  • Complete assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Job Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and a background in admissions, recruiting, marketing or a related field.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.  Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Frequent travel will be required. Must be willing to work until 6:00 p.m. at least three days each week with occasional later evening recruitment events.

Preferred

Experience working with transfer students, and/or non-traditional students.

Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check prior to employment. 

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. 

Must be able to work until 6:00 p.m.at least three weeknights each week with occasional additional evening and weekend events.

Physical Demands

The Transfer Admissions Counselor must be able to see, talk, hear, drive, and perform sedentary work. Valid driver’s license required for frequent travel.
