Communication & Event Coordinator

MacMurray College, located Jacksonville, Illinois, invites applications for the position of Communication & Event Coordinator. The Communication & Event Coordinator is a member of the Office of Admissions. This position is responsible for planning, creating, managing, and implementing communication and events for the Office of Admissions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage comprehensive digital and print communication plans to enhance awareness and promote the mission of MacMurray College to multiple audiences
  • Design, edit, and implement digital campaigns for email and social media
  • Collaborate with the Office of Communications on production of all marketing materials and large mailings
  • Assist Director of Admissions in writing, editing, and maintaining all official Office of Admissions letters, forms, and major communications with prospective students and related audiences
  • Monitor and maintain all official Office of Admissions letters, forms, and major communications with prospective students and related audiences and coordinate  
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate events for the Office of Admissions including Preview Days, Highlander Orientation, Admitted Student Day, and special group visits, with a focus on an excellent guest experience
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of communication plans and individual components and modify strategies and implement new initiatives to enhance Admissions communications.
  • Collect and evaluate event feedback data and report the effectiveness of events and/or propose event modifications to better meet guest expectations and needs
  • Supervise, train, and mentor student employees
  • Other duties as assigned that are reasonably within the scope of this position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, event management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of marketing/communications experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of event planning experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience writing professionally/creating content for a publication and/or website (experience can also be part of an internship or part-time position).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of communication campaigns such as email, text, and other communications tools
  • Knowledge of current marketing strategies and social media platforms
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and software (including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of digital systems such as customer relationship management platforms and social media sites
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite preferred (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Excellent, creative written and verbal communication skills
  • Rigorous attention to detail
  • Ability to set priorities and organize workflow, working both independently on assigned projects as well as a collaborative team member.
  • Demonstrate an exceptional work ethic and following through on initiatives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality / Understanding of and adherence to FERPA.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle changes and/or demands from diverse audiences, and manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and in a timely manner.
  • A positive, customer-focused, attitude
  • Flexible and adaptable, occasional evening or weekend hours required as necessary
