Making All the Right Turns - Getting Students on the Road For a Successful Transfer
According to the Illinois Community College Board, statewide full-time enrollment at Illinois Public Community Colleges reached a record high for spring 2010 of over 224,000 (an increase of 10.5% from spring 2009). College counselors have indicated that students who would not have even considered attending a community college ten years ago are now indicating community colleges as their top choice. Economic and financial concerns are driving this shift, along with the strong community college system in Illinois. The panelists will provide insight and direction to high school guidance counselors on helping students with a seamless transition from high school to a community college and then a 4-year institution in Illinois. Presenter: Rachel Smith, Coordinator of Transfer and International Initiatives – Illinois State University
